Where it all began...
In 2012, I finished my work in pencil (shown above) after my dance career stopped (i.e. took a lengthy pause)
Over the next five years, I kept revisiting works in pencil about dancers until I'd created my first full body of work
In 2018, I went on my first trip to Europe. I crossed off my number one bucket list item and spent nine days in Paris. I fell in love with the city, and created my next body of work based on landscape photos from that experience.
In 2019, I spent a lot of time admiring quiet, tranquil moments in nature. Walks in the morning with my dogs and evening picnics at the local parks inspired me to create a series about the serene colors I found in my time outside
As the Covid pandemic struck in 2020, I spent a lot of time connecting with loved ones who who were spending time in some of the more impoverished parts of the world. It struck me how privileged we are here in the United States, particularly our relationship to clean, healthy food. It moved me to create a body of work as a commentary about how we view our food.
As the pandemic (and lockdown) continued into 2021, my work took steep curve as I experimented with abstracting my subject. After months of isolation and looking inward, I created a series about my teenage years, called EVOLUTION
